Pausa on the Riverfront

I love Sudan Archive’s music. I love Sudan Archive, even though I can’t go where she is now. She reminds me of a friend of mine in Atlanta, beautiful, sexy, and rock solid. Just right there, real, no reason to put anything on. Another cut off this great debut EP is “Oatmeal“, which I always sing when I need some comfort music. Put a little pat of butter on top and some sugar and I’m SET.

There are other performances of these songs, a commercial video and the album tracks. But these versions fit my mood right now. I know the video isn’t working as a segue and it ain’t in a Carnival party theme, but “It don’t matter to me. . . “.

Apparently my cells synched up again, and I’m much better, so we’re going to “hippy hippy forward hippy hippy hippy hippy hippy shake”. Avanti! as they say in italiano.

Once again, I had something somewhat planned, or I should say “settled”. And then YouTube Algoriddim gave me this and I couldn’t resist. “Yo, I said ‘I’m calling you, mate'”. It reminds me of early 1980s No Wave jazz / punk fusion, like James White and the Blacks or Liquid Liquid or 3 Teens Kill 4, so of course I like it. No Wave practically created me.

One more big photo project to plow through and then a few web pages to build and I might be caught up. One more week at the latest. “Hang on, Sloopy”.

My life. One Big Pop Lyric. “There’s a party in my mind. . .”.

Bluah. I got sick. Don’t know what it is, I don’t think it’s Covid, but I had the same deliriums last night that I had when I got sick from my first Covid shot: My body trying to reprogram itself back into cellular synchronicity and failing, things unable to snap back into place. Sounds strange, I know, and hard to explain, but nonetheless real. Just. Won’t. Go. Bcak in. Plaece. Like that.

I’m going to continue with the Witch Doctor in the Vieux Carré vibe, then. I love this DJ Spooky album. It shows off what I consider his surprising musical talent on top of his electronic expertise. Optometry is a genre-defying mix of jazz, electronic and intelligent dance music in one pleasurable opus. I hope you like it.

Gotta go die. Later. . .

I looked everywhere for two songs tonight, neither one of them are available for streaming on the major platforms. I found this nice video for “Voodoo Ray”, but nothing for Lil Louis and the World, except a static YouTube video, which I refuse to post. Soundcloud has a version of “Voodoo Ray”, which I linked below.

Gotta work. Later.

In the spirit of Lundi Gras, we’re going to take a break from this series for just a week, maybe. I hope. The reality is that my day job must bleed into my night time, as much as I hate that. I fell behind my regular work because of a huge (ongoing) project and I’ve got to catch up somehow. I know. I really hate it and I shouldn’t do it, but it’s for my greater mental health. A man’s gotta do. . .

But what I WILL do is continue to post my musical choices of the (every other) day. Today we’re going to commemorate David Crosby. I won’t go too deep into it, only to say “David, one little boy believed everything you sang and that belief inspired him to be a better person. Thank you so, so much”.

Rejoice, rejoice! We have no choice!” Laissez le bon temps rouler!

I’ll be back asap.
