don’t miss

Vienna is full of strange “alleys” that a passing tourist would miss. They look like archways leading into some forbidden palace or office, but they are really secret covered walkways full of shops and fountains, sort of a “mini mall” where the patrons are protected from the elements and can shop in splendour and peace. This photo came from one near where I was staying. Proof again that I and my friend are not normal tourists, we braved the entrance and found a marvellous Xanadu instead of a guard. From there, we began to notice more of them. They were all small, magical respites from the streets.

Today is All Souls’ Day, as we call it in the States. It’s a day to visit a cemetery plot of a loved one and spruce it up. In Rome, the ancients had their own version, but they would climb on top of the sepulchres and party on the roof. In fact, they were built just for that: Yearly parties. Love that concept. Picnic on a grave: Salute!

I was not in a very nice mood today. I don’t know why. It’s a general dissatisfaction with my life. I think, “this does not suit me”, and then I remember other situations that did not suit me either, and I despair and pout and say I want to check out of space and time altogether. It’s a stupid cycle, and the loop plays like it did when I was a teenager, which sends me further into a spiral. At least now that I’m older, I know the mood will end. Further, I know how to end it, but I want to pout some more before I let it go. So wanh. Go away, I want to be alone. Really, I should be alone; as foul as I am feeling now, I may bite.

The video certainly helped. Morrissey tried, in his twisted way. At least he made me laugh. I hope they serve you as well.

I’ll be better tomorrow. TGIF. A little sunshine, bike and camera on Saturday and I’ll be happy again.
