Malcolm McLaren & The Worlds Famous Supreme Team : Buffalo Gals (DJ Cut Special Stereo Mix)

loco hobo

From Wikipedia : “Rodeo clowns require speed, agility, and the ability to anticipate a bull’s next move. Working closely with very large, very powerful animals, rodeo clowns are often injured seriously, and, sometimes, fatally. Most rodeos feature a clown, and clowns have become crowd favorites.”

The Charro de Corazon are not rodeo clowns, but Malcolm McLaren sure was, though those clown suits were quite, quite $ chère. I have spoken of Malcolm before, but for this project he was joined by the soon-to-be members of Art of Noise, whom you will remember from the Max Headroom video “Paranoimia”, and whom I’m sure I will highlight in more depth in the future. This EP (Extended Play, Z-friends) highlighted what was then a new art form, “scratching”, in which a DJ would slide two pieces of vinyl on two separate turntables back and forth. By hand. Tossing one record off a turntable, replacing it with another, all while “rocking” the other piece of vinyl on the other turntable. It was quite an art form. I’m sure people still do it today, but I don’t hear it so much in music anymore. Maybe because vinyl is relatively rare, right? So, the whole EP is worth a listen. It’s certainly in my rotation.

I’m avoiding something, kinda like the clown distracting the bull. I can feel it, but I can’t write it. Let’s just leave it here, for now: Clowns are important. I’m glad you tolerate this one. Grazie per la pazienza.
