SPIKEVAX

“Very PUNK ROCK”, my friend wrote. And so it is. The new Moderna vaccine is in full swing, now, along with all the new Covid cases in my life. Like, everyone has it. I, being the genuine trendsetter, me, I got this latest variant in June, on the plane home from Barcelona. So I guess I’ll pull a skippy on the SPIKEVAX and carry on. However, a friend shared a link with me from the American Medical Association that says “each subsequent COVID infection will increase your risk of developing chronic health issues. .  ..” So don’t play, y’all, get that bivalent booster.

This post is kinda punk, maybe not in the original sense, or in the original, original sense, but in a 2020s kinda way. This song popped up in my rotation many months ago, and it immediately pulled my white-boy rock-n-roll g-uitar string. I couldn’t figure out who it reminded me of, and it drove me crazy even when I was in New Orleans listening to it in my niece’s punk black Jeep, but I just did a search, “white stripes 7 nation army sounds like”, and there it is, sixth on the list, Kings of Leon. They chose “Use Somebody” on the web page, but “Charmer” is more raw, and hence sounds more similar to my ears. I’ve loved KoL since I first caught their performance of “Trani” on YouTube, which led me to their album “Youth and Young Manhood” and their subsequent YouTube hits. Caleb Followill is a pleasure to watch perform, with his ole “I’m a lil bit craxzy” lookin’ eyes. The hits and videos are brilliant, but I’ve never listened to another whole ab-lum. I wonder why that is?

Anyway and subsequently I discovered tonight that G. Corp is Groove Corporation, I guess under a slight pseudonym. “Scatter” popped up in my Al Gore Riddym Apple Playlist recently and that’s how I got turned on to that side project. I and I like muches. And, yeah, we can call Dub punk-adjacent since it comes from the same roots as Ska, and that would be old-school reggae. Jah love rulz.

I had a mystical (wwooo-wooo) topic for a post, and I suppose I could go there, but I changed my mind about that earlier. Not feeling it. Besides, my punk-Jeep niece is going to be reading this in a second, and I have to behave. Ciao, bella.

Buona notte.

PS: And oh yeah, what could be more classically punk than hanging tennies? Even in Rome. . .
