sole soul

And so, how did it go? Did you gift yourself to someone this weekend? Did you serve them realness from the depths of your vulnerability, or just kiss / kiss a little left / right smack on their cheeks, Roma-style? Either way is fine, the connection is all that’s important. And, speaking of connection, tonight, in case you were not able to make it to the morning services, we here are going to send you to CHURCH, children, on this Sunday evening, Let the preacher say it: CHURCH!

We all know Aretha is the Queen of Soul, that is a given. I love that line in “Hey, Nineteen”, by Steely Dan: “Hey, Nineteen, that’s ‘Retha Franklin / She don’t remember the Queen of Soul”. Yowch. All of Steely Dan’s songs have a “yowch” in them, have you noticed? Anyway, Respect to the Queen, ‘nuf said.

But there are some lil Maids of Honour. When I first heard Alicia Keys’ “Fallin'” I dropped my boots and slapped the floor. Seriously, I said “UNH” that’s my Girl. I call her Miss Key now. Miss Alicia Key, she’s my Girl. Oo, I love her. And then when I saw her video it was a whole new send. Those braids, those clothes, those dance moves, the message, that What. Oh Lord bring the spirit soul on DOWN!

CHURCH! Enjoy your Sunday, y’all.
