I’m a huge fan of Ezra Klein, progressive journalist and political analyst. He’s simply brilliant. His recent podcast series on the Israeli-Gaza conflict is a requirement for any balanced discussion about a very delicate subject. It borders on the sublime.
Pursuant to this post, and specifically to the modern methods of “curation”, you may listen to his very recent podcast, entitled “How to Discover Your Own Taste“, with writer Kyle Chayka. It would enlighten everyone about my reasons for this web site and why I prefer this method to social media. But no one will take my recommendation because no one comes to this site. Isn’t it ironic? Too weird for an algorithm, as they discuss. You can follow “The Ezra Klein Show” on the NYT Audio App, Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google or wherever you get your podcasts.
The Thick Pigeon album is gorgeous, quiet and subtly brilliant. The way they incorporate Johnny Mercer’s “Moon River” into a modern electronic ambient piece is quite nice. I would say listen to the whole thing, but you won’t, because it’s too subtle for modern ears and you won’t like it.
Besides, no one’s there.
