Last week I received an email from a NY Times subscriber newsletter called "The Amplifier". It's written by Lindsay Zoladz. Me and Lindsay have a kind-of stand-off-ish relationship. The other day she nailed it, with a music compilation based on Sofia Coppola's movies.

Today is All Souls' Day, as we call it in the States. It's a day to visit a cemetery plot of a loved one and spruce it up. In Rome, the ancients had their own version, but they would climb on top of the sepulchres and party on the roof.

It was raining, and we had ducked under the canopies of a bar / restaurant, so while they were drinking wine, I was scampering shamelessly around the piazza, marvelling at the colours of the umbrellas under the grey palette.
